Wildlife Rescue Minjerribah
At Wildlife Rescue Minjerrribah we rely on people like yourselves to operate a rescue service for the beautiful wildlife of North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). Our team of volunteers work tirelessly every day making sure our wildlife is cared for and handled correctly if found to be ill or injured.
Each month we deal with approximately 75 calls and 50 rescues ranging from birdlife to kangaroos, koalas, snakes, bats and much more. In the past couple of months our rescues have also included an entangled whale, a mother shark who gave birth whilst being rescued, and a dolphin who landed in a tinnie on the Bay.
Most of the badly injured wildlife is sent to the mainland for treatment and we ensure this is handled in a safe and caring manner. If we are fortunate enough, and the bird or kangaroo has recovered, we ensure their safe return back to the island; taking them back to their precise territory.
Baby Koala
This very young koala joey would not have survived without our rescue team working to find and reunite it with it’s mum after hours of searching the area where it was found.
A little joey
This gorgeous kangaroo joey was lucky to be spotted, stuck in a drain. Our head rescuer Pauly managed to carefully snare her and she is now recovering in the hands of a carer. Another great team effort!
